  1. Jun 17,  · Pacer sounds and feels like a Breeders project in all but name. Kim Deal has basically made a Breeders album while the whole band wanted time off in , so out of respect for them, Kim made an album (with the partial band) and just named it something else.4/5().
  2. While I was familiar with Kim Deal's other bands The Pixies and The Breeders, I only found out about The Amps when I saw the "Pacer" video on VH1 Classic. This is a very good collection of songs, and I would've liked to hear more from this band. My one complaint is that perhaps this record is too lo-fi/5(41).

  5. Their album Pacer was released on Halloween of It is widely believed to consist mostly of songs intended for the follow-up album to the platinum Last Splash. Kim Deal originally intended to play all of the instruments herself, even going so far to learn the drums (she knew guitar and bass already, having played guitar in The Breeders and bass .
  6. Soon, the Amps flowered into a full-fledged band, recording material intended for both Kim 's solo project and the third Breeders album. Recruiting drummer Jim MacPherson and two local Dayton musicians, Deal recorded Pacer in the summer of , releasing it in the fall. Appropriately, the album is raw, punky, and amateurish -- it's lo-fi garage punk.
  7. Pacer is an album released in October by the Amps, led by Kim Deal. The album was recorded as a side project to her group the Breeders. She recruited new musicians and naming the group the Amps, recorded Pacer at several studios in the US and Ireland, with different engineers, including Steve Albini, Bryce Goggin, and John Agnello.
  8. The Amps released one album, Pacer, which was recorded at several different studios. The first session, at Easley Studios in Memphis, Tennessee, was engineered by Davis McCain and Doug Easley. There Deal recorded new songs, including what would become Pacer ' s single, "Tipp City".
  9. Dec 03,  · The Amps – Pacer () Pod was a really really really good album by The Breeders. In fact, I vastly prefer it to any of the post Surfer Rosa Pixies material (yes, even Doolittle, what an asshole I am).To make a long story short, it was cold, weird, catchy, and contains some of .
